The home ownership rate has historically been government-promoted, encouraging Americans to pursue home ownership, reaching a peak of roughly 69% home ownership throughout 2004, but declining in the following years as foreclosures increased and home values fell during the US Housing Crisis. US Home Ownership Rate is at 67.40%, compared to 67.90% last quarter and 64.80% last year. This is higher than the long term average of 65.24%. |
