Average Diluted Shares Outstanding

Definition

The Average Diluted Shares Outstanding is the amount of shares outstanding after all conversion possibilities are implemented over the reporting period.

This measurement is important in understanding how a company’s share price can change if everyone claims their share of stock. If a company has a high number of convertible bonds and stock options and if everyone decides to claim their stock, the share price would decrease significantly.
