The first known cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United Kingdom were confirmed on January 31, 2020. Two family members began feeling ill after a trip from China. As cases began to increase in Europe, concerns of the Coronavirus spreading started escalating. On March 12, 2020, Donald Trump banned all travel between US and Europe, excluding UK. This was quickly updated to include UK as well a few days later. The number of cases rapidly escalated in late mid March 2020. By March 12th, 2020 the UK had over 1000 cases of the virus.
