This brief tutorial reviews YCharts Custom Email Reports (CER). For detailed instructions, continue reading. For an instructional video, click here.
To start, select “Email Reports” in the Tools menu bar. On this page, there will be several pre-canned email reports, including the YCharts Weekly Market Pulse.
Creating an Email Report
To create a report, click on the “Create New” button in the top right corner. In the report builder, insert a title, brief description and the frequency at which you would like to receive the email. Below the frequency option, click the blue “Add Module” button to add your first report component.
Add Module - Custom Email Reports must include at least one content module. The options available include a weekly commentary, calendars, charts, reviews and summaries, among others. (Note: Custom Email Reports are comprised of your existing lists — watchlists, saved screens, etc. Before building your CER, ensure the securities you’d like to view in an email report are saved in this manner.)
Select the module that you want to add; click next. This takes you to a page that displays various lists to build your custom email content. Once you select your list, click “Add.” This takes you back to the report builder where you can add many more.
Please note that there are display capacities for each list, but each module contains links back to your lists within YCharts. Additionally, your email may be “snipped” depending on the number of modules in your report. If this occurs, a link to view the report in its entirety will be located at the bottom of the email.
Editing a Custom Email Report
Keep in mind, edits are permanent and will overwrite any existing templates and saved reports. Please consider duplicating a report and making edits to the copied version. To create a duplicate, click on the dropdown button next to the pencil icon located on the right. Under “Preview,” select the “Duplicate” button.
To edit an email report, click on the pencil icon located to the right of each report. This will take you to the report builder, which allows you to change the frequency, module order, and/or remove any modules from your report.
Subscribing to an email report
To change the subscription status of an email report, click on the “Subscribe” or “Unsubscribe” button located to the right of each report.
