Protiviti Achieves Five Million Meals Milestone in its Global 'i on Hunger' Initiative to Feed the Hungry

Future efforts will include food sustainability

MENLO PARK, Calif., Nov. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the World Food Programme, one in nine people around the world currently suffer from hunger or malnutrition. In order to help address this issue, global consulting firm Protiviti has now provided a cumulative total of over five million meals to people in need since the autumn of 2014 through its 'i on Hunger' initiative.

Since the i on Hunger program began three years ago, Protiviti has worked with more than 100 non-profit organizations in 21 of the countries where the firm has offices to provide nutritious meals for people facing hunger. Nearly all of Protiviti's employees, together with volunteers from 245 of the firm's clients, have packed, cooked or delivered meals to the hungry in more than 30 countries.

"The i on Hunger program has had a positive impact beyond our expectations. We're incredibly proud of reaching the five million meal milestone in only three years, however, we have no plans to rest on our laurels," said Protiviti President and CEO Joseph Tarantino. "We'd like to extend our gratitude to our i on Hunger partners and to our clients, and especially to our employee volunteers, whose valuable support enabled us to surpass our original goal of providing one million meals. We look forward to continuing the collaboration that has helped so many people in need."

"Looking ahead, in the next phase of i on Hunger we plan to focus on sustainable impact in our fight against hunger, specifically in the areas of dependable food sources, waste reduction, improved nutrition and community improvement," said Dan O'Keefe, a Protiviti senior managing director and leader of the program. "We believe we can also bring our professional expertise to bear on these issues as well as continue our efforts to provide meals to those in need."

Protiviti's 'i on Hunger' program has been recognized twice by Consulting magazine with an Excellence in Social & Community Investment Award (2015 and 2017). In June 2017, the non-profit organization Feeding Children Everywhere recognized Protiviti with its Hunger Hero award for helping to provide healthy meals to children and families in need.
