Citi Habitats Acquires Miron Properties In New York

One of the city's largest real estate firms continues reach across Manhattan and expands in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading real estate firm Citi Habitats, a division of The Corcoran Group, is pleased to announce it has acquired the New York City operations of Miron Properties.  Led by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Schleider, Miron opened in 2009 and has grown to four offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn with more than 100 affiliated agents.  The company will now operate under the banner of Citi Habitats.

Miron's two Brooklyn locations at 982 Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, and 1055 Bedford Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant will be rebranded as Citi Habitats offices.  The brokerage's dual Union Square storefronts (84 and 90 East 10th Street) are planning to merge into Citi Habitats' existing Manhattan locations, which will welcome the Manhattan agents from Miron.

Jeffrey Schleider will assume the role of senior vice president of business development for Citi Habitats.  In this new position, Schleider will focus on the combined firm's Brooklyn brokerage operations.  He will be responsible for expanding Citi Habitats' market presence in the borough through obtaining and servicing new rental and sales exclusives for the company, as well as agent recruiting, coaching and professional education.

"Our company has firmly planted roots in Brooklyn, and with this most recent acquisition we continue to grow in this important market," said Gary Malin, president of Citi Habitats. "Jeff Schleider has an entrepreneurial spirit and dynamic presence that make him a perfect addition to our executive team.  We welcome Miron's agents and staff members to Citi Habitats and anticipate a bright future of shared success."

"I'm thrilled that we are becoming part of the Citi Habitats family, where our affiliated agents will have access to industry-leading resources to showcase our clients' listings, a top tier training program and a phenomenal executive team," said Schleider. "I look forward to providing greater opportunities for our agents to build and grow their respective businesses, as well as to expanding the Citi Habitats brand in Brooklyn."

With this acquisition, Citi Habitats is now home to approximately 900 affiliated agents and personnel, and has nine brokerage offices in the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.  Founded in 1994, the company is the city's leader in residential rentals and among the top ten real estate sales firms.  Citi Habitats is the largest marketer of new residential buildings in Brooklyn, and among the largest in New York.  The company represents projects that are expected will launch over 100 new rental and condominium developments across the five boroughs over the next two years.

"The acquisition of Miron Properties affords Citi Habitats the wonderful opportunity to further expand its customer base and presence in the continually growing Brooklyn market," said Pamela Liebman, president and CEO of The Corcoran Group.  "The talented group of agents and executives led by Jeffrey Schleider with their collective market knowledge and expertise are a welcome addition to Citi Habitats on many levels. It is a pleasure to welcome each of them to Citi Habitats."
