WellCare Donates $10,000 to the Broward Education Foundation to Support Those Impacted by Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) today announced the WellCare Community Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Broward Education Foundation to help those impacted by the tragic school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

"We are devastated by the horrifying act of violence that occurred in one of our local communities," said Ken Burdick, WellCare's CEO. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the students and families going through this tragedy, and we hope this donation will help those affected through this difficult time."

WellCare would also like to remind its members that crisis counselors are available 24/7 and can be reached at the Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 1-855-606-3622.

Anyone impacted by this tragedy can also call WellCare's Community Assistance Line (CAL) to help with needed social services. WellCare has a referral database with thousands of Florida-based community organizations and programs available to help with social support services.
