The Centre for European Economic Research

The Centre for European Economic Research, also known as the ZEW, was founded in 1990 in Baden-W├╝rttemberg, Germany in cooperation with the University of Mannheim. It is a publicly funded, nonprofit organization which conducts research concerning finance, industrial economics, environmental economics, corporate taxation, and labor markets.

ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment

The ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment is calculated from the results of the ZEW Financial Market Survey. It is constructed as the difference between the percentage share of analysts that are optimistic and the share of analysts that are pessimistic for the German economy in six months.
