Consumer Confidence Survey Report

The monthly Consumer Confidence Survey is conducted by Nielsen for The Conference Board. It measures an index of consumer confidence in the United States. This is defined as the degree of optimisim on the state of the economy that consumers express through their spending and saving activities. It is based on 5,000 households and is indicative of the consumption component portion of the GDP. The Consumer Confidence Survey is looked at by the Federal Reserve when determining interest rate changes and also has an effect on the stock market.
