Labor Productivity and Costs

Labor productivity is a measure of economic performance that compares the amount of goods and services produced (output) with the number of hours worked to produce those goods and services. Two BLS programs produce Labor Productivity and Costs measures for sectors of the US economy: Major Sector Productivity program & Industry Productivity program. The Major Sector Productivity program develops quarterly labor productivity measures for the major US economic sectors. The Industry Productivity program develops annual labor productivity and unit labor cost measures for US industries.
