The Netherlands has a prosperous and open economy which relies largely on international trade. It maintains stable industrial relations and notably has maintained low unemployment and inflation and has an important role as a hub for transportation throughout Europe. Exports contribute about 28% to its GDP and as such, the Netherlands has a strongly positive balance of payments.
