Hungary has transitioned from a centrally planned economy to a free market economy and has a per capita income nearly two-thirds that of the EU-25 average. The private sector accounts for 80% of GDP and foreign direct investment in the country is worth more than $70 billion. According to 2011 estimates, Hungary has a GDP of $195.3 billion which makes it the 56th largest economy in the world.
