Definition

Shares owned by institutional investors refers to the number of shares owned by institutional investors. These institutions can be banks, funds, large holdings companies, etc.

For example, if Smith Holdings are the only institutional investor who owns shares of Boeing and they owned 100 shares, Boeing's shares owned by institutional investors would be equal to 100. This metric is updated monthly.
