Rate of Change

View Financial Glossary Index

The Rate Of Change (ROC) indicator is a momentum oscillator that oscillates around zero. It measures the percent change in price over time. It is important to remember that a positive Rate of Change is still a price increase.

People calculate ROC typically by:

ROC = [(Current closing price - Closing price t periods ago) / Closing price t periods ago)] * 100
