Normalized Earnings per Share

View Financial Glossary Index

Definition

Normalized Earnings per Share is the amount of income that “belongs” to each share of common stock after adjusting for onetime expenses and other "abnormal income and expense".

Normalized Earnings per Share helps decide possible future earnings per share because it excludes any large onetime expenses that could possibly skew the results.

Formula

Normalized Earnings Per Share = Normalized Net Income / Average diluted shares outstanding
