The net assets that the company has to cover debt obligations or preferred stock. It can be expressed in dollars or as a percentage.

Asset Coverage = ((Book Value of Total Assets - Intangible Assets) - (Current Liabilities - Short-term Debt Obligations)) / Debt Outstanding
