The Advance Monthly Retail Trade Report estimates consumer retail spending - but not service spending - based on the responses to 5,000 surveys sent to retailers around the US. It has a reputation for being revised significantly month-to-month, but it still moves markets with large surprises. Numbers are nominal (not adjusted for inflation).
