The ISM Manufacturing Survey is conducted by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). It is released on the first business business day of each month and reports the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which is based on manufacturing activities, including employment, production, new orders, commodity prices, inventories, supplier deliveries, exports, and imports.
The survey targets specific industries, allowing investors to identify relative strengths and weaknesses within an economy.
