Semiconductor design software vendor Synopsys (SNPS) this afternoon reported fiscal Q4 revenue that missed analysts' estimates, delivered earnings per share better than expected, and forecast this quarter's results below consensus. CEO Aart de Geus called the results for the full fiscal year "excellent," adding that "Amid a landscape characterized by a mix of economic uncertainty and aggressive investment in designs, Synopsys is in a very strong competitive position." For the current quarter, the company sees revenue in a range of $475 million to $485 million, and EPS in a range of 51 cents to 53 cents, on a non-GAAP basis. Synopsys management will host a conference call with analysts at 5 pm, Eastern time, this evening, and you can catch a webcast of it on the company's investor relations Web site. Synopsys shares are down $1.50, or 4%, at $35 in late trading.
