YCHARTS DIVIDEND DAILY: Some “Non-Royalty” Dividends Beat the Aristocrats

Merck Dividend Yield Chart by YCharts
Standard & Poor’s Dividend Aristocrats List is always a good place to look for income-producing stocks, but companies with less rarified dividend lineage sometimes out-pay them. Currently, Chevron (CVX) offers a richer yield than Aristocrat Exxon (XOM). Merck’s (MRK) yield beats that of Aristocrat Abbott (ABT). And General Electric (GE), which is rebuilding its dividend after slashing it in the wake of the financial meltdown, has a superior yield to Aristocrat Illinois Tool Works (ITW). Of course, the Aristocrats have consistency – 25 years of uninterrupted dividend increases – and that’s not nothing.
