Apple To Competitors: Hey Guys, Ready To Eat Some More Dust?
Apple (AAPL) is getting ready to launch a new tablet, smaller than the current iPad, reports the Wall Street Journal.
This may seem like a defensive move. In the past few weeks, several competitors have jumped in with iPad alternatives. They include Microsoft’s (MSFT) Surface and Google’s (GOOG) Nexus 7, which New York Times reviewer David Pogue gave the ultimate compliment when he called it “Applesque.”
But Apple's latest news, presumably leaked with intention, may cause some consumers who were close to buying a rival’s tablet to hold off on any purchase -- and wait to hear about this long-rumored offering. That's a smart move, and a way to keep a step ahead.
